Copyediting involves checking for grammar, spelling, style, and punctuation issues. This process may also include minor rewrites to fix any problems with transitions, wordiness, and/or clarity, and to ensure that the style of the piece fits with the publication. For academic papers, this also entails checking the formatting of in-text citations, footnotes, and bibliographies in MLA, Chicago, or APA style.
